If you’re looking for somewhere to buy fresh foods, there are three top markets in the Okanagan area where you can do just that. Buying fresh foods is an excellent way to go green and it’s also very beneficial to your health.

BC Farmers’ Market

The first of the three top markets is BC Farmers’ Market in Salmon Arm. This is a favourite of many because all of the vendors offer organic foods. Here you will find a large assortment of fruits and vegetables, dairy products, beef, baked goods and even grains.

They are open year round – every Wednesday during the months of May to October and then every second Wednesday from November through April.

Winter Okanagan Wine Festival - January 17th to January 25th

The Sun Peaks Resort will provide the home for the 17th Winter Okanagan Wine Festival. If you enjoy trying new wine, this is the event for you. Plenty of area wineries will be at the resort to provide tastings, education and so much more.

Okanagan Fest-of-Ale - April 10th and April 11th

Wine

The Okanagan Wine Festival is quickly approaching its start date of January 17, 2015 and runs through January 25, 2015. There are many different events that take place during the wine festival so you’re sure to find something that you will enjoy.

You can sit back and enjoy eating a variety of different grilled cheese sandwiches paired with two different types of wines during the Grilled Cheese and Wine event. This event is held at the Sun Peaks Resort on January 17th.

On the 18th, you can enjoy four different Starbucks coffees paired with four British Colombian wines. You will be served the coffee and wine with a delicious brunch plate. This event runs from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Drag Racing 

The Valemont Drag Races is one of the most exciting events found in the winter season near Okanagan. This year it will be held at the 5th Annual Winter Festival and the event will be even bigger than years past. There will be plenty of snowmobilers ready to test their skills and see how fast they can go.

The Races

The drag races will be split into five classes, which include:

  • Stock
  • Mountain
  • Improved
  • Pro
  • Amateur

Each class will be battle for cash prices and there will been be races for the kids in the mini-sled class. Whether you want to race or you prefer just to watch, the races will be plenty of fun.
