Oliver, BC is nestled in the Okanagan Valley located between Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls. It is a town of 4,000 and has a lot to offer for all ages.
First off, Oliver is a wine lover haven, home to 25 wineries. You will find one or two wineries to fall in love with, or maybe more. Each area of the town has a distinct flavour for wine and the most popular their last year was the reds at Desert Hills Winery, an award winning BC winery.
After your trip or many trips to the wineries, Oliver has a lot more to offer than just fermented grapes. The Desert Centre Osoyoos celebrates Canada's only desert (besides the Arctic tundra) where temperatures reach above 40 degrees.
The Oliver Theatre provides residents with the latest blockbuster movies as well as cult classics. They played Rocky Horror Picture Show last summer to great acclaim. If you and your loved ones enjoy watching a movie from time to time, don’t forget to stop in and visit the Oliver Theatre.
If you’re an animal lover, the Sunkeya Farm Alpacas are a great show. Just make sure to avoid being spit on, which they will do if you invade their personal bubble.
Last but not least, the Grist Mill at Keremeos is a provincial historic site, which offers twelve acres of agricultural land, heritage buildings, spectacular gardens and afternoon tea.
Oliver is a great place to live and work. It is an absolutely beautiful area where the water and the desert come together. In addition, if you love wine, how can you go wrong with the wine capital of the country? Just think of all the tasting you will have to do!
