One of the best parts of summer is the overwhelming amount of farmers markets that are available in Okanagan. These markets allow you to enjoy organic fruits and veggies, as well as artisan goods, arts and crafts, bake goods, and a variety of local entertainment. These markets usually open in April or May, and last until the early part of autumn.
Some are offered at various times through the week, and always on the weekend. Typical start time for these markets is 8:30am, and close around 1pm. A variety of markets are available in at evening. Offerings and prices will vary among the various markets in Okanagan.
Here are some for you to check out.
- Armstrong, BC Farmer’s Market – Available in April through November. Open on Saturdays from 8am to 12pm. They offer a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, baked goods, honey, jams, preserves, pottery, soaps, bedding plants, woodwork, arts and crafts. This market is located at the Armstrong IPE Fairgrounds.
- Barriere Farmer’s Market – Available from May through October. Open Thursdays from 10am to 2pm, and located at 4307 Yellowhead South Highway 5 in Barriere. Here you will find fresh fruits, veggies, baked goods, fresh eggs, and a variety of local artwork.
- Blind Bay Farmers’ Market – Available from April through the middle of September. Open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. They offer a variety of fruits and veggies, bake goods, arts and crafts.
- Chase Village Market – Available from the middle of May to early October. Open on Fridays from 9:30am to 1:30pm, and is located in the heart of Chase BC. You will experience a variety of music, be able to purchase fresh produce, bake goods, cheeses, arts, crafts and view cultural displays.
