This is because of the large amount of area Okanagan offers to enjoy the sports. You can enjoy snowshoeing in ski resorts or backcountry provincial parks. Dogsledding is best done from November to April. Here are the locations you should go for snowshoeing and dogsledding in town.

Snowshoeing

The best places to go snowshoeing in Okanagan include Big White Ski Resort, Sun Peaks Resort and Silver Star Mountain Resort.

Silver Star Mountain Resort is located at 123 Shortt Street. it’s a family-oriented area where a charming Victorian village sits. The atmosphere here usually offers mild temperatures and a large variety of terrain. Many people come here for snowshoeing as well as snowboarding, downhill skiing and tubing.

Sun Peaks Resort is located at 1280 Alpine Road. It’s the second largest ski area in the country. Many people come here to snowshoe as well as snowmobile, ski, skate and tube.

Big White Ski Resort is at 5315 Big White Road and is the second largest ski resort. They accommodate over 17,000 guests and have 118 trails for all skill levels. Since they have such light, dry powder and mild temperatures, it’s the perfect place for families to enjoy snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding, skating and tubing.

Dogsledding

If you want to try gliding through snowy hills with sled dogs, you’ll love dogsledding in Okanagan. The two main areas to do this are Clearwater and Valemount close to the Wells Gray Provincial Park and Mount Robson Provincial Park. These are huge areas of protected wilderness.

Big Bear ATV Canoe & Kayak is located in Lumby at 208 Mabel Lake Road. This is one option for dogsled tours. It’s located in the north Okanagan area and is open all year round. Along with dogsledding you can try snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

Sun Peaks Resort is the other option in the area for dogsledding. Located at 1280 Alpine Road, it’s located in the interior of the country. They have a huge area to enjoy dogsledding and snow mobile tours.
