Known as, "The Biggest Little European Railroad in Canada," the Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad is a very interesting attraction. This place covers about 4,000 square feet and provides plenty of family fun. Here's a look at what you'll discover at the Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad.
The Railroad
The actual railroad is known as one of the top 20 attractions in the area. It's one year round and has been around for about 11 years.
The railroad includes 1,800 homes, over 18,000 hand painted people and more. This railroad is the largest Marklin lay-out in all of Canada and includes 45 computer controlled trains, detailed landscaping and a world-class experience.
You will find the trains set up with a European-style with houses and towns. There's also a car system running on some of the roads, which makes this the only display in all of North America of this type. If you're a train buff, you may find yourself mesmerized by the attraction.
What's New?
This year, there are three new places at this amazing attraction. The three new places provide interaction with a Zoo and a Zip-line. You can actually make things move at these three interactive areas by putting your hand in front of the circle. There's also a stork circling the nest in the zoo, as well.
Gift Shop
Of course, after you finish visiting the attraction, you can find the right souvenir to take home at the gift shop. You will find t-shirts, fridge magnets, HO scale trees and trucks, along with plenty more. They even provide 26 different postcards.
Admission and Hours
The Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad will be closed from January 6th to the 21st in 2015 for renovations. Other than these dates, the attraction is usually open from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday.
Admission is $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages two to 12.
