Vernon, BCAt the northern end of the Okanagan Valley you will find the welcoming town of Vernon. This town of 38,968 people is city of dry grassland hillsides and bordered by mountains. There are three lakes surrounding the city, Swan Lake, Okanagan Lake, and Kalamalka Lake. Residents can enjoy four seasons here with so many things to enjoy around the city.

When the weather is nice, water activities are very popular with locals. People love to head to the beach for a day of beach volleyball, picnic with the family, and enjoy the warm water. The adventurous type can be found water skiing and wakeboarding in Kalamalka Lake, and snorkelling and scuba diving at Okanagan Lake. Boat, canoe, and kayak rentals are available as well.  

Another popular activity is heading to the parks to enjoy nature, especially the wildlife watching tours. You can spot whales, bears, eagles, and mountain goats here. Many people can be found shopping, heading to a museum, or trying a cultural or culinary journey.

Something to keep in mind for residents or anyone looking to relocate is that it can be tough to drive around the city due to the treacherous road conditions at higher elevations. Most people drive a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle, especially needing chains on the tires during the winter time.
