Shopping

If you’re looking for somewhere to buy fresh foods, there are three top markets in the Okanagan area where you can do just that. Buying fresh foods is an excellent way to go green and it’s also very beneficial to your health.

BC Farmers’ Market

The first of the three top markets is BC Farmers’ Market in Salmon Arm. This is a favourite of many because all of the vendors offer organic foods. Here you will find a large assortment of fruits and vegetables, dairy products, beef, baked goods and even grains.

They are open year round – every Wednesday during the months of May to October and then every second Wednesday from November through April.

Vernon Farmers’ Market

The next market you may want to check out is the Vernon Farmers’ Market. They are one of the oldest markets in the area and they offer a large variety of fresh produce, eggs, dairy products, meat and fish, fresh baked goods, and even homemade arts and crafts.

On occasion, they even have live entertainment that adds cheerfulness to the market. They are also open year round, every Monday and Thursday from April to October and then on select days during the months of November through March.

Shuswap Farm and Craft Market

The third market is the Shuswap Farm and Craft Market. You’ll find a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, freshly baked goods, beautiful freshly cut flower bouquets, handmade pottery items, woodworking, crafts, and a whole lot more.

They are open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8am to 12:30pm in the summer months and then they offer an indoor market from October to April that is open from 9am to 2pm on Tuesdays and Fridays as well.

Check out all three markets and decide for yourself which one you like best. Perhaps you will love all three so much that you spend an equal amount of time shopping at each of them throughout the year.
