Drag Racing

The Valemont Drag Races is one of the most exciting events found in the winter season near Okanagan. This year it will be held at the 5th Annual Winter Festival and the event will be even bigger than years past. There will be plenty of snowmobilers ready to test their skills and see how fast they can go.

The Races

The drag races will be split into five classes, which include:

  • Stock
  • Mountain
  • Improved
  • Pro
  • Amateur

Each class will be battle for cash prices and there will been be races for the kids in the mini-sled class. Whether you want to race or you prefer just to watch, the races will be plenty of fun.

What to Expect

The event will include some very fast snowmobiles, which pack as much as 300 horsepower. That means these vehicles will be flying as they race each other down the track.

Along with the very fast snowmobiles, some of the lower classes will just be looking for a fun race. Some may even end in a "photo finish," which prices all kinds of excitement.

The more sophisticated sleds can go from 0 to 60 mph in about 4 seconds. Even faster, the improved class can go from 0 to 60 in about 3 seconds. You may see some of the snowmobiles reach speeds of 100 mph in the pro class before finishing the quarter-mile track.

Other Fun Events

Along with the snowmobile races, there will be a banquet, dinner, cocktails and other fun events. The races are a part of the Mountain Mania 8 event, which is a larger event with all types of fun.

Tickets are $36 each and include dinner, the fundraiser and prize giveaways, the drag races and more. It will be a fun event with plenty of fast snowmobiles in many different classes.

The event will be held on January 24th, 2015 with the banquet following the races.
