Ancient Hills Estate Winery is a boutique winery owned by Richard and Jitske Kamphuys. Originally from the Netherlands, Richard and Jitske decided to head west when they grew tired of life in the big city. They wanted to live a life more in tune with nature and eventually settled in Kelowna.

Not too long after they moved they purchased a property that had an orchard. In the 1940's this same property was a vineyard. It was made into an orchard only after a very brutal winter that killed almost all the vines. Since it was an orchard at the time they purchased the property, they decided to give it a go at orcharding.

However, that didn't last very long as that type of business proved to be too volatile. As a result they made the decision to replant a vineyard and turn it into a winery.

And that is how the Ancient Hills Estate Winery was born. It has now grown into something simply amazing. Every wine here is made out of grapes that have been grown in the vineyard. They even process everything right on site.

If you want to see a working winery in action, this is a great place to visit. If you love tasting wines you can hang out in the wine shop. Or if you prefer, you can bring your lunch and sip on a glass or two in the picnic area. Please know this winery is not a food service establishment. The only foods available in the wine shop are cheeses and crackers.
