Winery Spotlight: Little Straw Vineyards

Found in West Kelowna, the Little Straw Vineyards is a family-owned winery founded in 1996. This winery provides plenty of different choices including some very popular blends. Most of the grapes they use come from their own vineyards, which are found on the lower slots of Mount Boucherie.

The winery offers many small lot wines and something for everybody. You can enjoy a glass of wine at the winery lounge and even enjoy lunch. It's called the Barrel Top Grill and they do take reservations.

Upcoming Event: Funtastic 2015

As the largest slo-pitch tournament and music festival found in all of Canada, Funtastic is one of the best events of the year. This year's event will be held from June 26th to June 29th with plenty of fun lined up for everybody to enjoy.

Upcoming Event: Summerland Bluegrass Festival

The Summerland Bluegrass Festival will be coming to the Okanagan area from June 12th to the 14th. It will feature the Bix Mix Boys from Edmonton. They are one of the hottest bluegrass bands found in all of Canada. Entertainment will be provided on the stage throughout the festival including the twin fiddles from Tony and Terry from the Bix Mix Boys.

This year marks the 20th Annual Summerland Bluegrass Festival. It will be held at the Summerland Rodeo Grounds. The festival schedule will include:

Winery Spotlight: Ancient Hills Estate Winery

Ancient Hills Estate Winery is a boutique winery owned by Richard and Jitske Kamphuys. Originally from the Netherlands, Richard and Jitske decided to head west when they grew tired of life in the big city. They wanted to live a life more in tune with nature and eventually settled in Kelowna.

Not too long after they moved they purchased a property that had an orchard. In the 1940's this same property was a vineyard. It was made into an orchard only after a very brutal winter that killed almost all the vines. Since it was an orchard at the time they purchased the property, they decided to give it a go at orcharding.
